Gaza Strip: international cooperation to save the life of little Palestinian girl cancer patient
Italy in the forefront to save the life of a girl from Gaza of only five years, seriously ill with cancer.
After crossing Erez with her father, the little Intisar MS Almshalah will arrive this evening at 20.00 to the airport of Fiumicino, through the Ceremonial State.
The little girl, thanks to the association and non-profit humanitarian association A.N.G.E.L.S. and the Italian Consulate in Jerusalem, here in Italy will receive the care necessary to defeat a serious form of liver cancer. She will be transferred to the Policlinico Umberto I in Rome and treated in the Department of Pediatric Oncology directed by Prof. Anna Clerico.
"The request for help is received by our volunteer who lives in Gaza and who knows the difficulties in receiving appropriate care within the Strip. Thanks to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Consulate in Jerusalem and the Israeli authorities, we managed to get - said the spokeswoman of A.N.G.E.L.S, Benedetta Paravia - all permits necessary for the transport of the little girl in our country. Her condition is serious, and unfortunately probably will undergo a transplant. "After a first cycle of chemotherapy Intisar was able to beat the cancer, but after a few months it came back even more invasive. Italy is the last chance for her life.
"Overcoming illness and suffering of the small is a marvelous victory forall: she wins, the non-profit organization A.N.G.E.L.S wins, Israel and Gaza win, Italy wins for its hospitality," said Senator Enrico Pianeta, President of the association Italy-Israel friends'.
