Nearly one year after first surgery the little Tiba is good, but needs new interventions.

It was on December 4, 2009 when Tiba arrived in Rome from Iraq with the hope to finally have a normal life.

When she landed at Fiumicino airport, awaiting the blessed A.N.G.E.L.S. spokesman Paravia and other association volunteers, all were surprised: the girl with a beautiful smile, close to his dad, but she looked like 9 years but was 12.

The rare and serious heart defect which was affected had in fact delayed the growth. For doctors in Iraq, her country of origin, torn by conflicts, such case was too difficult and, without outside help, it would not be possible to cure it.

Shortly before, just because of the war, the family had been forced to leave the house in central Baghdad and take refuge in the suburbs with difficulties that threatened to plunge the already precarious health of small Tiba.

So, to help the child and her family, came the association A.N.G.E.L.S. that after all the medical findings and the necessary permits, took her to Italy. Here the child was subjected to two different and delicate heart surgery into the Hospital Bambino Gesù, by Dr. Sting and Dr. Amodio.

Close to her during the whole time of stay in Italy, there was the father and our spokesman, almost every day to prevent them from feeling too much the absence of the mother, remained in Iraq with the other 4 children.

The stay in Italy lasted four months, in March, the little Tiba could go back home with a heart finally working. In October 2010, and she returned to Italy to perform additional checks and to insert a balloon into a closed valve. But Tiba will have to suffer further fourth intervention during May 2010. For the rest of Tiba's smile is the most beautiful reward for all those who work with A.N.G.E.L.S.
